Pit Bulls Speak – We Are Great Dogs
Posted by Puppies - 11/01/09 at 09:01 pmMany individuals are not familiar with the American Pit Bull Terrier and they do not give them a chance, they automatically jump and start accusing them of being dangerous dogs. Pit Bulls have a bad reputation because of mean people who abuse their dogs and don’t train them. Also, the Pit Bull attacks that people are claiming may not be pit bulls because there are a lot of dogs who look like Pit Bulls. Pit Bulls are intelligent dogs that are highly trainable. They are strong and very athletic. They are loyal dogs and make great family pets. They have big jaws, but they do not “lock their jaws” like people say. The Pit Bulls jaws do not have any locking mechanisms.
Pit Bulls Are Great Dogs:
Pit Bulls make great service/therapy dogs as they are very love animals. There are many celebrities who own pit bulls, Helen Keller owned a Pit Bull as a companion and to help her out. Pit Bulls play important roles in their community by helping with search and rescue groups – they do a lot of charity work. Pit Bulls are heroes and not many believe this. Stubby, who was an American Pit Bull Terrier earned a number of different medals during WWI and he was honored in the White House, he served for 102nd.
Pit Bulls save Lives:
Then you have Weela who saved 30 people, 13 horses, 1 cat and 29 dogs during a flood that took place in California. Pit Bulls are known for being one of the most people friendly dogs in existence. The National Canine Temperament Association put dogs to the test and out of the 122 breeds, Pit Bulls ranked fourth place and had a ninety five percent passing rate. Pit Bulls are not aggressive towards humans, unless you train them to be that way. You have to understand that Pit Bulls will go out of their way to honor the owner and do what the owner say.
Stop Breed Selective Legislation:
Sadly, there is BSL (Breed Selective Legislation) going around that are trying to band Pit Bulls in certain areas. They have passed BSL in some parts of California and in Miami, Florida along with some other states. There are many petitions going around that you can sign to stop BSL and stop the dogs from being killed just because of their breed.
